LEVEL III Homework
Here is your homework assignment due Friday, September 20:
The theory books have not arrived yet, and they probably won’t arrive until next week. Level III
choristers will need to print the attached documents to do their homework
this week. I apologize for any inconvenience this creates.
LEVEL IV
Please bring your theory books to class each week from now on. This will help on days when you need to work independently during class because an instructor is absent.
The Rock Slinger Scores
If you have a score
of The Rock Slinger, please check the number printed in the upper
right hand corner of the cover. Several copies were incorrectly given out at
the opening meeting, and now families are concerned they will be responsible for
missing scores.
If the number on front of the score does not match the chorister’s assigned number from the list that was sent in the Choir Notes email, PLEASE bring it back to the next rehearsal, and
exchange it for your copy. (If you do not have access to the email or are unsure of your chorister’s number, please contact me.)
We will be rehearsing The Rock Slinger music at all rehearsals now,
so choristers need to bring their scores to every rehearsal.
The Rock Slinger CDs
If you are one of the ten families who ordered a personal copy of the CD, they have arrived, and you can pick them up at Friday's rehearsal.
The CDs do NOT have jewel cases, so they will be given to you in a paper
envelope. (We bought the jewel cases separately for our library copies.) If you want to protect them, bring your own jewel case.
Please do NOT pick up
your personal copy until you have paid Barb Wilmes $10. (Checks should be made out to Corpus
Christi. Please indicate “Children’s Choir” in the memo.)
All other families may continue to check out our
choir library copies on a weekly basis.
Monitoring Notes
We have a small Level II class this year, so we only
need to set up 10-11 chairs in the JPII room each week.
St. Cecilia is the patron of our choir, and choristers generously gifted me with the large St.
Cecilia doll. For these reasons, as part of setting up the room for choir, monitors need to take the doll out of the box and stand it on the homework table each week. Thank you.
Also, please remember to set out the beautiful wooden ballot box for
the Christian Leadership ballots. The ballots and description are located inside the box. Please take them out and set them in front of it.
A photo of how the homework
table should be arranged will be posted on the closet door in the near future.
Field Trip Poll
It was almost a unanimous vote that we go to Denver for the field trip in November. (I am
awaiting instructions from our diocese about how to plan a field trip, but I
do not foresee any major impediments.)
Almost all families voted for driving separately and
carpooling instead of renting a bus.
As a reminder, the trip would be to Holy Ghost Church in Denver on Sunday, November 24 for the Feast of Christ the King. Mass begins at 10:00am. We would leave here by 7:30 or 8:00am. Mass
would be over by 11:30am or noon, at the latest.
We would return to Colorado Springs around 1:00pm. (This provides plenty of
time for those who plan to attend the diocesan event that day)
I will contact families later this week to request your intent to participate (this is an optional event) and to obtain details about transportation.
First Mass — Sunday, September 29
A couple of reminders about Mass attendance:
PLEASE review the dress code for all choristers. Choristers who do not meet the code will not be allowed to participate in the procession.
Please do not place me in the position of having to tell choristers they may not participate.
As a reminder, choristers who miss BOTH of the rehearsals the two Fridays immediately proceeding a Mass are asked not to
sing at the Mass. If they miss one,
they may sing. If they miss BOTH, they may not.
Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments!
