- Entering the music room quietly, getting your materials and proceeding to your place before the rehearsal begins.
- No talking during rehearsals or Mass. If you are responding to a question or have to ask one, raise your hand.
- Listening attentively and following instructions.
- Showing respect for leadership and fellow choir members.
- Moving to new locations (such as the church) during rehearsal or before Mass in as quiet and orderly a fashion as possible.
- Always behaving in a respectful manner when rehearsals take place in the church and showing reverence for the Divine Presence in the Tabernacle through good behavior, genuflection and appropriate use of the holy water fonts.
BEHAVIORAL CONSEQUENCES
If a child engages in disrespectful or disruptive behavior, the following consequences will ensue:
- The instructor or instructor's assistant will ask the child to stop the disrespectful/disruptive behavior.
- If the child persists in the behavior, he/she will be asked to take a time out or to sit apart from the other students to allow him/her to regain control of his/her behavior.
- If the child continues in the behavior after a warning and a calm-down time, parents/guardians will be notified and possible solutions discussed. If an instructor is not available to discuss the incident directly after rehearsal, parents/guardians will be emailed regarding the situation.
- Repeated behavioral problems after discussion with the parents/guardians may result in the student being dismissed from the St. Cecilia Schola Cantorum program.
- If a child's behavior is causing placing himself/herself or surrounding students or adults in immediate danger, parents will be contacted and asked to pick up the child immediately.
