Level Guidelines
Instructors
Valerie Niemerg is the director of the St. Cecilia Choir and she will lead most of the rehearsals and Mass music for this choir. Other instructors on our faculty may work with the students as well.
Rehearsal Time
- St. Cecilia Choristers will meet on Wednesdays at 4:00-5:45 PM.
- Choristers are eligible to stay for an optional cantor class on Wednesdays at 5:45-6:00 PM.
Performances
- The St. Cecilia Choir will join with the St. Michael Choir for certain events, including Masses on Oct 3 (Cathedral), Palm Sunday (Shrine), and Easter Sunday (Shrine).
- St. Cecilia Choristers currently wear white tops and black bottoms for Mass. Eventually, they will be wearing red robes to match the other Schola levels.
Musical Opportunities
- Students will regularly sing music in two to three parts as well as Gregorian chant.
- Students will sing in the Pueri Cantores Choral Festival in Denver in March 2027
- Students will participate in concerts in October, January, and May.
Level Guidelines
- Entering and existing choristers in Grades 6-8 will begin in the St. Cecilia Choir. (5th Graders will be placed in either the St. Michael Choir for Grades 2-5 or the St. Cecilia Choir. Placement will be determined by the Schola faculty.)
- The St. Cecilia choristers work at Theory Level IB.
- All final decisions as to which level a student is in will be made by the musical director.
